What to look and listen for
As students are sharing, and giving and receiving feedback on, their explanations, listen for students to make connections between structures and their functions that support sexual reproduction in plants as well as share examples of plant structures involved in asexual reproduction. On the exit tickets that students turn in, look for what they label, draw, and write to explain the process of how plants reproduce, including
the importance of flowers in reproduction,
structures and functions of flower parts that indicate sexual reproduction is happening,
the importance of animal interactions to support plant sexual reproduction,
the fact that some plants also reproduce asexually, and
- humans may use both sexual and asexual reproduction in plants to obtain plants with desirable traits.

What to do
In conversations, if students struggle to make the structure-function connection for flower parts or to sequence the process in their explanations, remind them of what they may already know about human reproduction and what we have learned about cattle reproduction, specifically the importance of eggs and sperm in sexual reproduction.
