What to look / listen for
Look for any line of new questions that emerge related to how similar internal structures are in the ancient penguins (or in other organisms). This implies the need for comparing the same sort of data next time that they looked at today, but for more ancient fossils.
What to do
If you see no internal structure-related or bone-related questions, it is appropriate to leave a question on the handout, such as this: What sort of questions do you have that could help connect Pedro and modern penguins? How might exploring data for those body structures help answer your questions?

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.8.1 Engage effectively in a range of collaborative discussions (one-on-one, in groups, and teacher-led) with diverse partners on grade 8 topics, texts, and issues, building on others' ideas and expressing their own clearly.
In this lesson, students collaborate with a partner to analyze data about internal and external body structures of penguins. The partners must discuss the data as they compare them, expressing their own ideas and building on their partner’s ideas. At several points in the lesson partnerships then also share their findings with the whole class.
